Introducing the European Examination Board in Laryngology

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the European Examination Board in Laryngology (EEBL), a newly founded society created in close partnership with the European Laryngological Society and the European Examination Board in Otorhinolaryngology.

The EEBL has been formed with a clear and ambitious purpose: to define and uphold a shared standard of excellence in laryngology across Europe through a formal post-graduate examination. Passing the European Board Examination in Laryngology will represent a significant professional distinction - a recognised credential that reflects both the depth of knowledge and the clinical competence expected of laryngologists practising at the highest level in Europe. This initiative marks a meaningful step forward for the specialty, bringing European laryngology in line with other surgical disciplines that have long offered structured, board-level certification.

The first examination will be held at the ELS 2027 Congress in Antwerp. Further details regarding eligibility criteria, examination format, and the application process will be shared in the coming months. We encourage all ELS members to follow this development closely and to consider what this fellowship could mean for their own professional journey.

This is a milestone not only for the EEBL, but for the broader laryngology community in Europe. We look forward to sharing more as preparations progress.
