The Bulgarian National Society of ORL-HNS was established on 03.10.2009 in Sofia with 19 members – otolaryngologists. Nowadays, there are 206 members.

The main goals of The Bulgarian National Society of ORL-HNS are to assist in the development of otorhinolaryngology in Bulgaria, to assist young doctors in improving their professional qualifications and realization, and to assist in the introduction of contemporary, modern practices and methods of diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases.

Every fall, Тhe  Society organizes a National Congress of Otorhinolaryngology.

The Congress is the most significant ENT event in the country and annually gathers over 250 participants. The scientific program includes topics in all major areas of otorhinolaryngology. Roundtables are held to discuss important issues in the specialty.

In 2026, the 20th National Congress of Otorhinolaryngology will be held from October 2 to 4 in the beautiful mountain resort of Borovets. The congress is becoming more and more popular every year, which is why the requirements for the scientific program are already high, and we will try to make it even more saturated with interesting topics and include the participation of respected speakers. The congress traditionally features guest lecturers from various countries who present ENT practice and achievements in their countries. In addition, we also include guest lecturers from other scientific fields related to the work of ENT specialists, such as plastic and maxillofacial surgeons, pediatricians, oncologists, and others.

Under the auspices of The Bulgarian National Society of ORL-HNS, numerous smaller scientific events and meetings, courses, workshops, and more are also organized. Information about them and the rest of the societie's activities is available on the official website www.orl.bg.
